Helena College aspires to empower our students through impactful, affordable, lifelong education that is responsive to the needs of our community in ways that are enriching, collaborative, and equitable. As part of this vision, Helena College supports high school students who are pursuing their post-secondary education or career goals prior to graduation. Helena College has established a nurturing and rigorous setting for those high school students with the curiosity, ambition, and desire to succeed.
Dual enrollment courses are college courses (100-level or above) taken by high school students. Students who are 16 years of age or juniors are eligible to take college courses. Students who do not meet the age/grade requirement can request acceptance by requesting a waiver.
Both dual credit courses and college credit only courses are available through Helena College:
Remember, enrolling in Helena College means you are a college student complete with the responsibilities that accompany a post-secondary learner. One important aspect of this reminder is that you are beginning a record of academic history on your college transcript, which will represent you throughout your entire post-secondary enrollment regardless of institution.
Visit the Helena College Dual Enrollment webpage for information about how to enroll as a dual enrollment student.
You must complete a course selection form each semester you take classes as a Dual Enrollment student. You must be a current Dual Enrollment Student or have completed the application for your course selections to be processed. Be mindful of scheduling, resources, and commitment when selecting courses. Contact Helena College Dual Enrollment for details and deadlines.
Simply withdrawing from a course at the high school will not drop the course at Helena College. It is your responsibility to contact the College about dropping or withdrawing from the course to avoid a failing grade being posted to your college transcript.
When applying for a scholarship or for enrollment at another college, you will need to order or download a transcript in My HC. If you have questions about official or unofficial transcripts, visit the Helena College Registrar's Office website for more information.
The Montana University System Dual Enrollment Guidelines are available for review.
